8 Million Images Online

My former scanning team celebrated the end of our 2-year project yesterday with cake and hilarity. I'm the person to the right of the woman cutting the cake, with the brown-flowered top and gray jacket. And also the one eating cake with Ning Wang.

Here's what my former supervisor, Mike Jacklyn, the King of Supervisors, said in his email:

"I think it's about time we celebrate the HFX (Halifax) scan team's accomplishment of scanning all the LRO (Land Registration Office) bound books, Aprox. 4000 ....but who's counting. This has been a huge accomplishment and the quality of the online images is a testament to the teams work ethic and attention to detail.

I personally wanted to thank the Halifax Scan team members --> Mike Hernon, Pam Langille, Bernie Cholock and Chris Ash......you guys really are the best and your continued diligence has been outstanding. I never worry about the work getting done and done right.

I also want to thank all the others involved, (Julia's note: so many supervisors would simply stop at his current crew) they include Robert Tupper who started out with me at the beginning of the Project, Julia Smith who has left the team for other employment and all E-Vault team members past and present.... Doreen Sanderson, Patti Christie, Marcie Rice and Jennifer Throop. None of this would have been possible without all of your efforts and it's hugely appreciated.

Oh I almost forgot......A big thank-you to Ning Wang who not only helps me tremendously but also supports the Scan and E-vault team's on a daily basis. Couldn't do it without you Ning.

Let's just get together in the boardroom Thursday at 2:00 PM and have some cake and refreshments.....sorry Hernon no beer!"

I left a celebration at my new office - a baby shower for a father-to-be - to head over for the fun at my old office. Had a load of fun! By the way, Ning and I are eating the picture on the cake - made of edible rice paper. Ning is eating the picture of his own head, and I'm eating Mike Jacklyn's!
