Poetry Train Monday - 65 - Thoughts on the Volumes of Poetry at the Reference Library

Thoughts on the Volumes of Poetry at the Reference Library

What is it that makes me
Jot these words down
Just this way
And call it a poem?
I think of others doing likewise
And wonder if I'm making art
Or if they are

Each of us tending our
Gardens of thought
Not really caring
Whether other eyes can
See the blooms
Rescued painstakingly
From the weedbed

If this is the way
We choose to create
Each poem has served its purpose
Think of the poems
I'm repeating now
The thought may be the same
Yet no one has landscaped these words
As I have done
