5 on Friday - Set 4

For my Thursday Thirteen yesterday, I listed thirteen of my favorite shows currently airing on television. That prompted me to post five of my favorite TV series' theme music for my fourth 5 on Friday set.

Only one of these shows is currently airing - Spooks / MI-5. Other shows will air as reruns. But all are available on DVD.

To play along, visit Travis at Trav's Thoughts and sign up!

1 - Spiderman original 1967 animated series intro - lyrics - Paul Francis Webster - music - Robert Harris

2 - The Prisoner opening intro - composer - Ron Grainer

3 - the Sharpe series opening intro - composer - Dominic Muldowney

4 - Horatio Hornblower theme - composer - John Keane

5 - Spooks opening intro - composer - Jennie Muskett

VABookworm87 says The only one on there I'm familiar with is MI-5... I am so addicted to that show!!!!!

Anna Campbell says Made me think of my favorites and hands down, it's the Doctor Who theme (another Ron Grainer opus).

Michelle Helliwell says Love the theme to Sharpe! Also among my favorites - Greatest American Hero, Battlestar Galatica, Deep Space Nine, and Firefly. Loooove the theme for Firefly.

VABookworm - You're going to freak over season 8!

Try THIS LINK on You Tube. You have to watch the episodes in 10 minute bits, but who cares?

Julia, great post! Made me think of my favorites and hands down, it's the Doctor Who theme (another Ron Grainer opus). Also love the Blake's 7 theme. And there was an old British version of Black Beauty when I was a kid that had a lovely theme. Rawhide and Bonanza.

Oh, no, now I've done five. What about Mission: Impossible. That has to make the list.

And I hate to admit it, but what about Gilligan's Island?

Anna - I should invite you to do a guest post for a future 5 on Friday! If the Black Beauty series is the same as the one I'm thinking of, I love that theme, too.

I've never heard of Blake 7 - I'll go check it out on You Tube.

LOVE Mission: Impossible. And Bonanza. I love the Blues Brothers version of Rawhide.

And Gilligan's Island is classic.

Great set, Julia - had the Spiderman, Spiderman song playing in my head until I read Anna's suggestion for Gilligan's Island - "Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip..."

Ooh, now I'm thinking of the Beverly Hillbillies' theme song - gawd! Make it stop.

Great group of songs - I'm addicted to British programming so have seen most of these either on BBC America or PBS. I'm Telling Stories for my 5 for Friday.

Janet - My favorite part of the Gilligan's Island theme: (old version) 'And the rest' (new version) 'The Professor and Maryanne'. How hard was it to say 'The Professor and Maryanne'...?!?

Jamie - My addiction to British programming began early and has never let up!

Michelle - I headed over to You Tube straight away to listen to the theme for Firefly.

Travis - I was thinking that my attraction to intense, dramatic music began early when I listened again to this theme.

Ha! What fun! Okay I love the Spooks theme too - I find myself humming it sometimes. So sue me! And the spiderman theme! yay! love that. Def. a Brit sensibility there my dear. LOL. Right now I'm loving the theme to 30 Rock and of course Sex and the City and Curb Your Enthusiasm and then when I get nostalgic for my teen years I like to sing the theme songs to all those family shows - like Family Ties, Growing Pains - etc.. Also like Charlie's Angels theme. Okay enough from me now! We should do a theme month for this on popdivas - ;)
