Spiderman 3

I went to the writer's retreat the weekend Spidey opened, so it's been awhile that Brad and I have been attempting to go. All the spring weather has been hard on my migraine-prone head. I'm never good with spring and fall, with extreme temperature rises and dips.

So every time we made tentative plans to see it, we always gave up on the idea because I knew I couldn't bear the noise and flashing and intense color. Besides, I wanted to be able to enjoy it.

Well, today my head settled down, so I met up with Brad after work for a quick bite to eat and a date at the movies. It was worth the wait - we both really enjoyed it. James Franco had a really strong story arc as Harry, Peter Parker's friend. And the turbulence between Peter and Mary Jane is really heartbreaking.

Best of all, while we walked to the bus stop chatting about the movie, I felt a Huge Idea creep up in the midst of our conversation. I often get these when I attend concerts, shows or movies. The stimulation of focusing on a performance always releases my internal creative programs.

I looked up at Brad - he's a foot taller than me - and could barely contain my excitement. I brainstormed with Brad on the bus ride home. I'm so energized I know I won't sleep for another few hours.

Day job or no, I'm a night owl and this is when the ideas hit. They'll just have to wait for me to wake up around lunch time tomorrow, even if I do make it in for 9:00 am.

  1. I love it when the creative muse pays a visit. I'm a woman possessed when I have an idea and need to work. Glad to read that Spiderman 3 is money and time well spent; I wasn't too keen on spending the $$ to see it. I'm now leaning towards going - thanks to your glowing review!

  3. Julia - I was pleasantly surprised with Spidey 3 having not enjoyed 2 very much, but promised to take my brother, who isn't well enough to go to movies on his own at the minute. Must be something in the water, that all us bloggy/writery types are night owls...I'm at my most creative between midnight and 3.00am. I laughed out loud at 'they'll just have to wait for me to wake up around lunch time tomorrow, even if I do make it in by 9.00am'

  4. We saw Spiderman 3 last week and liked it, despite some of the reviews. I think people expect more when a movie is a sequel.

That's great about your Muse. And the fact that you can brainstorm with your husband. LOL I do that with mine all the time. I'm sure my characters are almost as real to him now as they are to me.

  6. That is awesome Julia! I haven't seen Spiderman 3 yet, but I plan on going very soon.

I love it when ideas sneak up on you like that. I have to write them down quickly before I lose the thread.

  7. Yay for inspiration! Oddly, I am rarely inspired to write by reading. When I need inspiration I watch a film. Drama, usually. Preferably with a hottie in it. :)

I havent seen Spidey 3 though. maybe I will go see it this week!

  8. I'm glad you liked the movie. I have yet to see it and all my friends have either not liked it or have felt that it would have been better to wait until it was available to rent.

I love that you get ideas like that. I'm the same way. Other's creativity is contagious!
