Poetry Train Monday - 9 - Brad's Untitled Poem

Today I'm featuring a guest poet: my husband Brad. It's our 15th anniversary on Wednesday. Tonight we're going out to dinner to celebrate, and we'll be catching the new "Harry Potter" flick on our actual anniversary. It's more fun to spread out the celebration, anyway.

Because I was thinking about our day, I remembered this poem that Brad wrote for me when we were living in our first apartment together in Toronto. This was written sometime in the early 90's.

Brad's Untitled Poem

My Love
Last Night while sleeping on the couch
I dreamt that I had woken.
As you got up from the couch
that you lay on
You came over and kissed me
You smiled and wished me a
good sleep
And you walked through the
darkness
Up the stairs to where you slept
It was a pleasant dream, a happy
dream that filled me with warm
feeling
As it repeated itself a number of
times, careening through my head
and my heart.
I awoke late this morning with a
fabulous feeling of well-being and
the light of truth that shines
when sandman's dust is brushed away
The illumination showed me that
the first dream was reality and
those that followed were but echoes
in the caverns of a half-asleep brain.

  1. Awww that is so sweet (she says heart melting cursing her technology minded husband who doesn't read or write). Just kidding, congrats on 15 years.

I am so out of touch with movies, is the new HP due out soon. My goodness, where the heck have I been?

  7. Aww, sweet hubs. That's so awesome. I keep all my hubs notes (not poetry but I still love reading back over those little messages he leaves for me in the morning, by the coffee pot :)).

    Happy Anniversary,

  12. happy anniversary. how can it be anything but if he is still as sweet as this poem sounds?

(hope you got over the migraine so it doesn't put a crimp in the celebration. i so know the dark pinch of their grip.)

  17. Oh yeah, that gets an awwwwww. :) So sweet! My husband would never write poetry for me. Course, I would probably giggle too much if he did because I imagine he would use more... "colorful" words :)
