This is the beautiful Christmas cactus that my friend Janet has at her desk at work. It actually bloomed on cue at Christmas time. I've never seen one so lush and so timely!
Thanks for stopping by. the mill site has bee there since the 18th century. The original mill was destroyed by a flood at some point, and then rebuilt later. Amazingly enough, that mill and another one in a different part of town both operated until 1959. And I'm reasonably sure that if someone powered Yates Mill back up, it could support itself if nothing else by producing "boutique" flours and meals and/or perhaps lumber.

ReplyDeleteMine is blooming, too - but not quite so lush.
ReplyDeleteI had one of those plants myself some years back - but we call them November cactus ;o) Mine never had as many flowers as this one though.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's pretty. We don't see many flowering cacti over here.
ReplyDeleteThat's gorgeous. Mine bloomed this Christmas for the first time, but it wasn't as nice as this one.
ReplyDeleteThat's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen one before. I'll have to get one.
My first time seeing flowers like these! I likes, I likes :)
ReplyDeleteHey, you're not allowed to warm up yet!

ReplyDeletePretty, you take much better care of yours than I do of my poor little Christmas cactus;)
ReplyDeleteOops, I see it isn't actually yours, my bad. Still pretty!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Christmas cactus!
