3 - Kevin grew up in Mound, Minnesota and attended university before embarking on a modelling career. He moved into acting in the late 1980's.
Starred in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys for six seasons (1995-1999)
Starred in Andromeda for five seasons (2000-2005)
Kevin has done a lot of genre work, including:
Kull the Conqueror (1997)
God of War III Video game voice work (2010)
The Conduit Video game voice work (2009)
He also had a recurring role on The O.C.for two seasons (2006-07)
Next photo is straying into Not Safe For Work territory...
4 - Kevin keeps in tiptop shape. The grueling stunt schedule required of his roles on Hercules and Andromeda actually led to a near-fatal aneurysm in his left shoulder in 1997.
5 - No matter how delicious Mr. Sorbo may be, he's strictly eye candy, ladies - he belongs to Mrs. Sorbo, Pennsylvania-born-and-bred actress Sam Jenkins.
Also an actress, Sam met Kevin on the set of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, when she had a featured role as Serena, a mythical-beast hind (a red deer.) They have three children.
6 - Kevin appeared for six seasons in his breakout role as Hercules, half-mortal son of Alcmena and half-god son of Zeus.
The underlying conflict for Hercules throughout the series was his tumultuous relationship with the ultimate of father figures. Hercules dared to challenge his father over the god's treatment of humans, while Zeus laid down his iron will over his son and the rest of humanity.
This music fan video explores the relationship between Zeus - played by several different actors over the course of the series - Hercules and Zeus' full-god son, Ares, god of war.
7 - Moving from ancient historical mythology to futuristic space drama, Kevin appeared for five seasons as Captain Dylan Hunt in Andromeda. Here, too, he played a genetically-enhanced human with greater-than-normal strength. The series explored the repercussions of his black-hole journey three hundred years into the future, where he had to work to restore the crumbled Commonwealth he had once defended.
8 - Remember my soft spot for a man in chains?
...well...
His role in Kull the Conqueror gave us a wonderfully chained-up Kevin.
9 - Tonight on The Hallmark Channel Kevin plays a CEO in serious need of an attitude adjustment.
10 - I do think Kevin's warrior roles suit him best of all.
11 - And Kevin is an awesome crier.
The emotional scene begins at the 4:40 mark.
12 - At age 52, Kevin shows us that 50 is the new 30 as he heads for the fairway, indulging in his passion for golf.
13 - Kevin turned his passion for fitness into a mentoring program for kids with the World Fit For Kids organization he chairs. The way Kevin sees it, it's never too early or too late to get fit and grab for the brass ring.
What timing on your T13. H:LJ is in my Netflix queue and the hubby and I watch an episode every night!
ReplyDeleteOh chained up Kevin :: drool ::
ReplyDeleteHappy TT and thanks for the pictorial :-) Somehow I missed Andromeda and it sounds like the kind of show I would enjoy. Do you know if it's syndicated anywhere?

ReplyDeleteWhile I don't enjoy the same level of appreciation you have for Mr Sorbo, I did enjoy the Hercules series. It was delightfully anachronistic.
