Travis at Trav's Thoughts invites everyone to lay down a short set of music that takes their fancies for his 5 on Friday meme.
It's December! It's December! It's December!
To celebrate the kick-off to my favorite season, here are five songs I've enjoyed singing in choirs over the years. I had to bow out from my regular choir schedule this year in order to get SAINT SANGUINUS published, and I keenly miss the preparations for a Christmas concert that usually fill up my calendar about this time.
1 - Lo How a Rose E're Blooming - Tyler Junior College A Cappella Choir
2 - Noel nouvelet - King's College Choir, Cambridge
3 - Joseph, lieber Joseph mein - Volkssing Akademie
4 - The Boar's Head Carol - Mars Hill Madrigal Singers
5 - Jeg er så glad hver julekveld/I am so glad it's Christmas Eve - Oslo Fagottkor featuring Celine Hristov
I love Christmas choral music. Thanks for posting these festive gems.
ReplyDeleteOh my it is Chorale season isn't it. Wonderful set and getting in the mood.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely set! I had been avoiding anything that resembled Christmas music, so that I wouldn't be tired of Christmas before it even got here. But now, I need to switch gears, to help me get into the proper frame of mind. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely music!
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous, Julia! I love the Boars Head Carol - it really puts me in a medieval mood.
ReplyDeleteTwo of my favorite Christmas collections are the Taverner Cosort Carol Albums - seven centuries of Christmas music. Music and history - like ice cream with chocolate sprinkles for me!
Ah but I do love a nice Christmas Chorale and these are definitely that!
ReplyDeleteI need to get myself in gear and back into the swing of things with Five on Friday; I just can't seem to get reorganized and even remember what day Friday is anymore it seems!
Question for you, is Saint Sanguinus going to be available in something other than Kindle on Amazon at some point? I'm kind of a hold-out with eBooks but I would really love to read it!
