5 on Friday - Set 113
Travis at Trav's Thoughts invites everyone to lay down a short set of music that takes their fancies for his 5 on Friday meme.
As I enjoy Day 1 of this 4-day Easter long weekend, my thoughts turn in Good Friday directions.
Happy Easter - and may you rise from whatever holds you in shadow to feel the joy of life inside of you.
1 - Stabat Mater Dolorosa (The Sorrows of Mary) - composed by Antonio Vivaldi, performed by Andreas Scholl
2 - Since By Man Came Death - composed by Geroge Frideric Handel, performed by the English Concert & Choir, directed by Trevor Pinnock
3 - Gabriel Appeared - by Pavel Chesnokov, performed by an unidentified Moscow Men's Choir with soloist Igor Chernogov-Nomerov
4 - Benedictus from The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace - composed by Karl Jenkins, performed by Only Men Aloud and The Cory Band
Music begins at the 2:13 mark. I just love looking at all those Welsh faces, all the same age as my Peredur, the Dark Ages Welsh warrior from my vampire novel SAINT SANGUINUS
5 - Strati na Angelaki Doumasche (Haiduk Song) or song of the forest freedom fighters - performed by Trio Bulgarka
Great set this week for the Holy Weekend, Julia. I could only listen to four of them as the last video apparently got yanked via YouTube for some sort of infringement violation by the maker - oops! However, out of the four that I listened to, I would have to say that I really enjoyed the last one the best. Such beautiful voices!
ReplyDeleteHave a very Happy Easter weekend and may the peace of God and the joy of living be with you and yours!
This is just beautiful Have to come back and linger over all this lovely music of the season.
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know, Linda - I've posted a different version of it.
