Travis at Trav's Thoughts invites everyone to lay down a short set of music that takes their fancies for his 5 on Friday meme.
This week's set was inspired by a serenade at the 50th wedding anniversary celebration this past weekend for my high school choir friend Dawn's parents, Mike and Mary.
A teenaged cousin sang this opening song, which brought immediate tears to pretty much every woman at the party who had been a teenager in 1963, when Mike and Mary walked down the aisle. I thought it was a perfect choice, especially that it was sung by a young voice filled with the hopes and dreams of a young bride.
1 - To Know Him is to Love Him - The Teddy Bears
2 - One Fine Day - The Chiffons
For this week's 5 on Friday, let's take a walk down memory lane to 1963, the year Mike and Mary said 'I do'.
3 - Our Day Will Come - Ruby and The Romantics
4 - So Much in Love - The Tymes
5 - Then He Kissed Me - The Crystals
My it must be something in the air. You went to the 60s as well. One Fine Day is a big favorite from that year. Happy anniversary to your friends.
ReplyDeleteGreat set for a great time in you friends Life!
ReplyDeleteOne Fine Day and Then He Kissed Me are my favorites from this set of 5. songs were so much simpler back then... have a great day~
ReplyDeleteThere's definitely more than enough room for sappy romantic tunes, especially the ones you chose for this Set.
ReplyDeleteAnd we're always safe when we go to the 1960s for our selections!
