  1. Today I had my second acupuncture treatment for chronic knee pain and migraine.

Once upon a time, 15 summers ago, I collected a team together to run a scavenger hunt through Toronto, collecting money for the Toronto Children's Aid Society. We had to find specific spots downtown, and we even ran into then-Toronto-mayor Barbara Hall when we were at Nathan Phillips Square. (Sweet!)

Unfortunately for me, I tripped over a homeless guy who moved unexpectedly when we were heading for my university campus. I fell on my right knee, effectively grinding it into the sidewalk with enough force to cause the equivalent of 30 years' worth of wear and tear, leading to an osteoarthritic knee for me since my late 20's.

I've since had surgery on it, which helped. And physiotherapy, which helped. Of course, last summer my little powerhouse of an excited dog did a martial arts move on that very knee, which had me using my late gram's cane for awhile. More physio, which helped.

A few weeks ago, a friend of mine from work went to an Asian acupuncturist and recommended I give it a try for my migraines.

Vivian Yuan, the woman treating me, is also focusing on my knee. So far the results have been quite extraordinary.

    I'll keep you posted.

PS - Happy Birthday to my friend Jacquie, the dark-haired woman in the stripey T-shirt in the first three pictures.

  7. I hadn't understood how the photos hung together.

Sorry about your longterm difficulty. Of course I'm a sold proponent of acupuncture since my DH practices it. Helped during childbirth!

  8. I tried acupuncture for my migraines. One day when I went, I was suffering from pain in my shoulder and neck from an old injury sustained in a car accident years ago. She treated that as well. Amazing! Haven't had problems with the neck/shoulder since then. Never did a thing for the migraines though.
