Tomorrow I'm continuing my Thursday Thirteen series heading towards Remembrance Day. Join me for the music of the Second World War, with a special Remembrance Day Thursday Thirteen coming on Nov. 6th.

I loved it last week. Can't wait to see what you have for TT this week. Have a great day Julia. :)

I really like the theme, Julia. So many times Remembrance Day just gets shuffled aside.

That poster has a definite WWII flavour.

Ref: previous post - I recognize the painting on that book cover! Or I should say, I recognize the original this was somewhat altered. By Carl David Whatshisnameagain, a Romantic (i.e. of the specific school of thought, not the emotion) German painter who painted some charming everyday scenes. It's more pastoral in the original, but considered groundbreaking in making the viewer look through the eyes of the subject.
Unless I've remembered totally wrong, which is entirely possible...

M - thanks for the clue about the painter. It's Caspar David Friedrich, and the painting is called Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog. I've seen his work before and loved it, but I didn't remember his name. Thanks so much!
