Poetry Train Monday - 79 - Jingle Bells

Saturday was the 7th Annual Sisters Christmas Lights Party. Guests usually include myself and my sister. Sometimes my husband joins in, and our mom flits in and out of it. But generally it's an intimate gathering for two.

Two silly sisters who love to laugh and who love Christmas. We've turned putting my mom's outside Christmas lights into a blast.

We always begin the proceedings with Frank Sinatra's CD A Jolly Christmas. Track number one is Jingle Bells, done Frankie's way.

For the Poetry Train today, I'd like to invite you along as we sip the spirits of the season from our frosty Christmas mugs. Grab a cord of lights, some twist ties and let's put up some cheer.

Jingle Bells (as arranged for Frank Sinatra)

I love those J-I-N-G-L-E bells
Oh! Those holiday J-I-N-G-L-E bells
Oh! Those happy J-I-N-G-L-E
B-E double L-S
I love those J-I-N-G-L-E bells
Oh!

Jingle bells
Jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh

Jingle bells
Jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh

Dashing through the snow (Doo doh)
In a one-horse open sleigh (Today)
O're the fields we go (Doo doh)
Laughing all the way (Today)

Bells on bobtail ring
Makin' our spirits bright
What fun it is to ride and sing
A sleighin' song tonight

Ho ho ho
Ho ho ho
Ho ho ho ho ho
Ho ho ho ho
Ho ho ho ho
Ho ho ho ho ho

Jingle bells
Jing, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh

I love those J-I-N-G-L-E bells
Oh! Those holiday J-I-N-G-L-E bells
Oh! Those happy J-I-N-G-L-E
B-E double L-S
I love those jingle bells
All the way!

Jingle all the way!

- original lyrics by James Lord Pierpont (1857)

- arranged for Frank Sinatra by Gordon Jenkins

LOL we put up our tree and decorations today helped by our youngest grandson Nate (2). We have a singing santa and a singing Rudolph so we've been singing Jingle Bells and Rudolph the Red nosed reindeer all day! :0

Hehe - I've heard this version of 'Jingle Bells' several times over the past few weeks. My favorite radio station is currently running ALL Christmas songs until after Christmas!
