5 on Friday - Set 146
This week's set is inspired by the love interest character for Scorpius from my work-in-progress, which is also my NaNoWriMo project. She is a major figure for Books 2 and 3 of my Dragonsfyre series.

I'm being interviewed at the Romance Bandits - Scroll down for 5 on Friday - Set 101
Please join me for a rollicking good time over at the Romance Bandits, where I'm being interviewed by Anna Campbell, regency noir romance author extraordinaire.
Travis at Trav's Thoughts invites everyone to lay down a short set of music that takes their fancies for his 5 on Friday meme.
For my first set of the new year, I'd like to dedicate these tunes to my kick-ass main character, Tanwen, the Dark Ages Welsh chieftain's daughter who not only discovers her betrothed perished on the battlefield, but that her father expects her to marry another.
Let's just say Tanwen isn't the kind of daughter to take this news well...
1 - These Boots Are Made For Walkin' - Nancy Sinatra
2 - One Way or Another - Blondie
3 - Weapons - Carole Pope and Rough Trade
4 - Supervixen - Garbage
5 - God is a DJ - Pink
You can read about Tanwen in my debut novel, SAINT SANGUINUS.

5 on Friday - Set 87
Travis at Trav's Thoughts invites everyone to lay down a short set of music that takes their fancies for his 5 on Friday meme.
My Resistance is Futile Blog Tour of the Universe has begun its pre-show amble down the red carpet. The release of Saint Sanguinus is mere weeks away, and A Piece of My Mind will take on a decidedly vampiric flavor during October.
Settle back and enjoy these five songs whose narrators likely sport a set of awfully sharp teeth.
To vote in my Vampire Smackdown, please scroll down to Thursday's post.
1 - Blood and Roses - The Smithereens
2 - Red Rain - Peter Gabriel
3 - Temptation Waits - Garbage
4 - Creep - Radiohead
5 - Dark Shines - Muse

5 on Friday - Set 16
For today's 5 on Friday, I'd like to share five songs by Garbage, an alternative band that appeals to my badass side.
For more great tune-age, head over to Trav's Thoughts.
1 - Lick the Pavement
I learn to bribe
I learn to say please
Oh, won't you
Lick the pavement for me?
I like you best
When you're on your knees
- Erickson / Manson / Marker / Vig, 1998
2 - I'm Only Happy When it Rains
I'm only happy when it rains
I'm only happy when it's complicated
And though I know you can't appreciate it
I'm only happy when it rains
Pour your misery down on me
- Erickson / Manson / Marker / Vig, 1995

3 - Hammering in My Head
Sweat it all out
Sweat it all out
With your bedroom eyes
And your baby pouts
Sweat it all out
In our electric storms
And our shifting sands
Our candy jars
And our sticky hands
- Erickson / Manson / Marker / Vig, 1998
4 - Special
Do you have an opinion?
A mind of your own
I thought you were special
I thought you should know
But I've run out of patience
I've run out of comments
I'm tired of the violence
I couldn't care less
- Erickson / Manson / Marker / Vig, 1998
5 - You Look So Fine
You look so fine
I want to
Break your heart
And give you mine
You're taking me over
It's so insane
You've got me
Tethered and chained
I hear your name
And I'm falling over
Knocked down
Cried out
Been down
Just to find out
I'm through
Living for you
- Erickson / Manson / Marker / Vig, 1998
Jamie says Okay nothing like a touch of Domination with a tinge of S & M on the side to start the Friday of a long weekend. :-)
Linda says I do believe that Jamie said it perfectly! This is what I love about this meme, it gives me a chance to listen to music that I may not have heard otherwise and broaden my horizons a little each week.
Mary says Oh Julia, I like them!

Poetry Train Monday - 106 - I'm Ready
Last Thursday I posted thirteen songs that I picked from my various YouTube playlists. For today's found poetry, I've taken several lines from each song that I posted and have reworked those lines into a poem.
Ride the Poetry Train!
I'm Ready
The line I shoot will never miss
Now I'm ready to close my eyes
I'm telling you it's not a trick
And I feel awkward, as I should
And now I'm ready to feel your hand
Strike me down
Give me everything you've got
You should see my scars
So what if you can see the darkest side of me
Sometimes I scare myself - I just can't let it go
Erase and rewind
You're on your own now
And when do you think it will all become clear?
Sometimes, the first thing you want never comes
Change your heart
It will astound you
I'll be everything I'm not
You're liable to get licked
I'm still caged inside
Do I really want this?
I can't escape this hell
I said it's fine before
Hey baby can you bleed like me?
Your rescue squad is too exhausted
It’s been shitty
And if you complain once more
You'll meet an army of me
Everybody's gotta learn sometime
Pieces are falling I can't seem to make them stay
Help me believe it's not the real me
Lose my heart on the burning sands
The way I make love to 'em
Pay attention, don't be thick
They can't resist
C'mon baby can you bleed like me
This club has got to be the most pretentious thing
Sometimes, the last thing you want comes in first
I'm tearing away
Yes, I said it's fine before
'Cuz I'm being taken over by the Fear
Sometimes...
I know, the waiting is all you can do
And now I'm ready to close my mind
Strike me down
Change your heart
I've changed my mind
Just try to comprehend that which you'll never comprehend
We won't save you
Everything happens for reasons I just don't know
Can you believe it?
But I don't think so no more
I take it back
Look around you
So many
Times
I've tried

Richard Wells says This is an interesting experiment. One of the founders of Dada was almost lynched for composing a poem out of random words from a newspaper. Those were the days when people cared...
Gautami Tripathy says I liked how it flowed. I know it isn't easy but you do it seamlessly.
Fledgling Poet says This all came together so seamlessly... Loved it!
