This shot was taken 25 years ago when the Russian four masted barque, the Kruzenshtern, sailed into Sydney Harbour (Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada, that is) during the Tall Ships festival.

Tomorrow - Thursday, July 16th - the Kruzenshtern will once again return to Nova Scotia when she sails into my home port of Halifax. I'm beside myself with excitement!!!

For the story of the special place this ship has in my heart, check out my Poetry Train Monday post below, and join me Thursday for 13 Things About the Most Romantic Story You'll Ever Hear.

I really love tall ships, although I'm not sure that I'd want to travel halfway around the world in one. Great photo, Julia.

Beautiful.. The ship and the poetry... I do have to admit that while I'm a little crazy at times; I don't think I would be able to climb out on the mast like that...

Michelle - My sister said, 'We'd better bring Kleenex' as we made plans to go aboard together.

Thomma Lyn - I'm counting the seconds!

Shelley - I love tall ships so passionately, but I have a healthy respect for the power of the sea. I've read online that the Kruzenshtern lost half of its front mast in bad weather as it sailed up the eastern seaboard these past weeks - and then I saw a picture of it. :-(

Brooke - I'm glad no one's ordering me aloft!
